Here is a Healthy mukhwas recipe that is easy to make and won’t compromise on any flavour. It is rich, creamy, sweet, nutty, or crispy and salty - You name it! What else? It can be made in less than 5 minutes! 

Ingredients

  • ½ Cup Fennel Seed
  • ½ Cup Dhanadal
  • ¼  Cup Pumpkin Seed
  • ¼  Cup Sunflower Seed
  • ¼  Cup Black Sesame Seed
  • ¼  Cup Watermelon Seed
  • ¼  Cup White Sesame Seed
  • 1 tbsp Jethimadh powder (or dry ginger powder)
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon powder 
  • ½ tbsp Chaat masala
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri Masala

Method: 

  1. Dry Roast all the 7 seeds, one at a time and take them out in a big bowl. 
  2. Add the Jethimadh powder, cinnamon, chaat masala and Kashmiri red chilli powder when the seeds are warm. 
  3. Mix thoroughly and let them cool to room temperature before storing them in an airtight container. 

Traditionally these seeds were incorporated in Hindu fasts as phalahar to provide the necessary nutrients. They were also an essential part of the Navratri fast and were used in multiple ways during the festival.
